Recent research into AI use among teachers

Via Barend Last I came across the research below into AI use among teachers 🧑🏻🏫
Below are the main points of his summary on LinkedIn, in brief:
In his LinkedIn summary, Barend Last explains how American K12 teachers (primary and secondary education) who work with backwards planning are gradually integrating AI into their work processes 🙌🏻
The qualitative study followed 24 teachers for a full school year and divides them into three groups:
1️⃣ Teachers who use AI for both input (such as lesson plan ideas) and output (such as quizzes and worksheets).
2️⃣ Teachers who use AI for output only.
3️⃣ Teachers who do not use AI at all.
According to Barend, only the first group reports gains in productivity and quality of work, partly because they also use AI to check and explore their lesson plans 😖
He also notes that teachers differ widely in how they receive AI, with some raising ethical concerns about shifting responsibility and ‘cheating’ 🛑
His conclusion is that the real gain may lie less in generating output and more in supporting the planning process itself 💡
In other words, AI as a sounding board for better-considered choices, and Barend asks how teachers in his network experience this 🙋🏻♂️
Which group do you count yourself in? And what has your experience been so far?
