About me

Born in Rotterdam in 1983 and having spent part of my childhood in Luxembourg, I bring together a rich mix of cultural and professional experiences. My career began in ICT after my vocational (MBO) studies in Arnhem, after which I discovered my passion for education and went on to study at the Academie voor Lichamelijke Opvoeding (Academy of Physical Education) in Nijmegen.

Since then I have held various roles in education, from physical education teacher at the international primary school Aletta Jacobsschool to team leader at Sportbedrijf Arnhem, where I led sport and health initiatives. These experiences formed the basis for developing GymWijzer!®, a digital learning resource that supports cooperative learning in physical education.

My career took a technological turn when I joined Rijn IJssel as an ICT teacher, where I gained in-depth experience in career development and technology integration. At the Techadoptie practorate (applied research group) I used my expertise to build bridges between care and welfare technology and education.

From 2021 I further developed my skills as a teacher/developer and learning team coach at Hogeschool Utrecht within the Associate degree programmes Digitale Techniek & Media and Software Development, where I integrated innovative learning solutions and shared responsibility for the curriculum. Since 2023 I have worked at Open-ICT, a full-time bachelor's programme within HBO ICT at Hogeschool Utrecht. In this programme the learning process is central, with a holistic approach.

Alongside my work in education I run MARIANYDESIGN and MARIANYHOSTING, companies focused on web design and hosting, supporting more than 150 clients.

I live in Bennekom with my partner Marjolein and our two children. My career is a testament to my belief that education is a lifelong adventure.
