New knowledge clip: Best practices for implementing programmatic assessment

I am delighted to announce that our new knowledge clip on programmatic assessment is now available! In this video we share insights and best practices for implementing programmatic assessment in education.
Why programmatic assessment?
Programmatic assessment is a powerful approach that focuses on continuously collecting feedback and data in order to monitor and promote students' development. This method enables lecturers and students to focus on growth and improvement, rather than only on final results. By using a variety of data points and ongoing dialogue, we can gain a holistic picture of students' progress and performance.
What can you expect in the knowledge clip?
- Learning outcomes as the backbone: the learning outcomes form the core of the assessment programme. This ensures that all assessment is aimed at achieving the desired competencies and skills.
- Feedback and feedforward: every data point is aimed at giving feedback and feedforward, without immediate pass/fail decisions. This helps students reflect and improve. Proportional
- Weight of decisions: the number of data points and the weight of decisions are proportionate to each other. This ensures a balanced and fair assessment of the student.
- Constant dialogue: there is an ongoing dialogue about using feedback for self-regulation, which contributes to the student's personal growth and development.
- Assessor expertise: the weight of the decisions determines the expertise required of the assessors, which contributes to the reliability of the assessment.
Practical questions and successes
At the Vernieuwenderwijs conference we successfully tested the Programmatic Assessment Card Game with a large group of participants. The game proved an excellent way to ask practical questions and arrive at a shared vision of programmatic assessment. The enthusiasm and positive feedback from participants confirm the value of this teaching format.
There's more! 🙂
Besides the knowledge clip and the card game, we also offer a route map for students. This route map, together with handy stickers, helps visualise the learning process and the development of evidence. It can be filled in together with the teaching team or by the students themselves, which leads to valuable discussions and insights about the learning process.
