EduGPT in Years 5 and 6 at De Stevenshof primary school in Leiden

Last week I visited groep 7 and groep 8 (Years 5 and 6) at De Stevenshof primary school in Leiden. A lovely, energetic morning in which the pupils got to work with EduGPT themselves.
I was warmly welcomed by Robbert van Hasselt. It was great to see how openly and curiously the school looks at AI in education. Not as a gimmick, but as a tool to help pupils learn to think better, ask questions and develop ideas.
The pupils picked it up surprisingly quickly. They asked good questions, tried out different prompts and discovered how EduGPT can help them without taking over the thinking. That is exactly where the value lies for me: AI as a learning buddy, with the pupil and teacher firmly at the helm.
Thanks to Robbert, the team and of course the pupils of groep 7 and 8 for their enthusiasm. Moments like these show why AI literacy matters from a young age. Not later, but now.
