What is the AI Literacy Companion?

The AI Literacy Companion is an online tool that uses a series of questions to help you discover how familiar you are with AI concepts, applications and the ethical considerations that come with them. Whether you are a beginner or already have some knowledge of AI, this self-scan offers valuable insight into your current skills and level of knowledge.

Scientific Basis

This self-scan is based on the Meta AI Literacy Scale (MAILS), an instrument developed by researchers to measure AI literacy. MAILS is designed to assess different facets of AI literacy, including the use and application of AI, understanding AI, recognising AI and ethical considerations. Recent research has further supported the validity of this scale and has led to the development of a short version for more efficient evaluation.
