Looking back on our inspiring workshop on AI literacy at the conference Toetsen en Beoordelen in het VO

At the conference ‘Toetsen en Beoordelen in het VO’ (Testing and Assessment in Secondary Education) on 4 February 2025, I had the pleasure of giving a workshop on behalf of Education Oracle on AI literacy and the use of the Toets Companion and Feedback Companion. What an inspiring and energetic day it turned out to be!

Through www.ailiteracycompanion.eu, participants gained insight into their own AI skills. The nice thing is that after completing it, they could also chat with the AI Mentor to get feedback on how to become even more AI literate.

Participants discovered how AI tools such as the Feedback Companion can help improve the quality of assessment and feedback. Central to this was the idea of consistent and constructive feedback that not only strengthens the learning process, but also deepens the dialogue between student and teacher. Attention was also paid to the impact of the AI Act and how institutions can use AI responsibly and with privacy in mind.

A special moment during the workshop was the presentation of the first AI literacy certificates. These certificates symbolise not only the knowledge participants gained during the session, but also their commitment to taking innovation in education to a higher level. It is wonderful to see how teachers and education professionals embrace this challenge with enthusiasm.
